About

Standing just south of Kahramanmaraş Castle in central Kahramanmaraş, Historic Bath Pit receives guests in a landmark building whose origins go back to the 15th century and the Dulkadiroğulları Principality. The historic bathhouse, in the Şehit Evliya neighbourhood of the city centre, came through the 6 February earthquakes undamaged and remains open with a report certifying that it is structurally sound.

With its stone architecture and well-preserved historic fabric, the building keeps traditional Turkish bath culture alive. Bathing sessions come with kese (exfoliating scrub) and massage, and budget-friendly prices give visitors the chance to relax in a historic atmosphere.

After time in the hot room and on the navel stone (the heated marble platform), guests are served freshly made ayran, a yoghurt drink, mixed with sparkling mineral water. Anyone wanting to experience long-established hammam traditions in the centre of Kahramanmaraş can visit during the day.
