About
Paşa Hamamı is in the historic bazaar beside the Ulu Cami (Great Mosque), in the Kunduzhan neighbourhood of Çorum's central district. According to the Cultural Inventory records, the building, also known as Taceddin Paşa Hamamı, was commissioned in 1484 by Taceddin İbrahim Pasha bin Hacı Bey. The hammam was registered in 1978 and still serves its original purpose today.
Built on the plan of an Ottoman double hammam, the building has women's and men's sections laid out as mirror images of each other; each has a cooling room, a hot room and a halvet (private hot alcove). The walls, built of rough-hewn stone and rubble, are covered with domes. A restoration that began in August 2007 was completed in April 2008, and the hammam returned to service.
Reopened to visitors with a new look under a new operator in October 2022, the hammam has a navel stone (the heated marble platform) and a sauna; kese (exfoliating scrub) and massage are offered. Hot and cold drinks are also served.
According to its Google listing, the hammam is open every day from 06.00 to 23.00. In the business's 2022 announcement, the women's section hours were given as 09.00 to 18.00; women are advised to confirm the hours by phone before going. It is an easily reached address in the city centre for those who want a traditional hammam experience in a five-century-old building while exploring Çorum's historic bazaar, and for those who prefer separate sections for women and men.
