Sultaniye Kaplıcaları

Sultaniye Kaplıcaları lies on the south-western shore of Lake Köyceğiz, at the foot of Mount Ölemez, in the Köyceğiz district of Muğla. Run by Köyceğiz Municipality, the hot springs have a long history: according to the municipality, the ancient people of Kaunos began using the spring around two thousand years ago, and ancient remains in the area also point to this use.
The sulphurous water, which emerges from the spring at around 39°C, contains calcium chloride, calcium sulphate, calcium sulphide and radon. Alongside outdoor and indoor thermal pools fed by this water, the site has a mud pool. Visitors usually go into the mud pool first and, after rinsing off, move on to the thermal pools.
The municipality has rooms to rent for those who want to stay at the springs. Because the site lies right on the lake shore, the outdoor pools can end up under water when the lake level rises in wet winters; during the flood in February 2026 the outdoor pools were submerged while the indoor pool section stayed open.
By road, it is reached from Köyceğiz by heading towards Ekincik via Hamitköy and, after the sign, turning off and continuing about 500 metres down the side road. It can also be reached by the shared day boats that leave from Köyceğiz, Dalyan and Ekincik; some boat tours also stop here. According to its Google listing, it is open every day from 08.00 to 20.00.
