Couples' massage in Istanbul

Couples' massage — two people being massaged at the same time in the same room by two therapists — is the most popular spa treatment in Istanbul for celebrating anniversaries, birthdays and special occasions. The venues listed in this guide are in Fatih, Zeytinburnu, Beyoğlu and Ataşehir.

What to ask first: Whether the session takes place in a shared room or in a private suite with its own shower and jacuzzi. This is the most common reason for price differences in Istanbul, and if privacy matters a lot to you, it needs to be clarified in advance.

Package or massage only: Most venues offer couples' massage as a package that includes use of the hammam or sauna, refreshments and time to relax. In that case the total comes to 2-3 hours; when planning your appointment, allow for the whole programme, not just the length of the massage.

Appointment timing: Because it needs two therapists at the same time and a suitable room, capacity is limited. For Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and weekends, you may need to plan several weeks ahead.

Note: Couples' massage is not just for couples; mothers and daughters, siblings and friends often choose it too. If one of the guests is pregnant, let the venue know — the session needs to be arranged as a pregnancy massage and the hammam part left out.
