All four venues listed in Afyonkarahisar are thermal facilities: three are thermal hotels and one is a hot-spring resort town run by the municipality. Afyonkarahisar is one of the provinces most closely associated with thermal tourism in Türkiye; spring areas such as Gazlıgöl and Sandıklı are spread around the city centre. What the options on the list have in common is that they offer thermal pools and a hammam together with accommodation.
There are two thermal hotels in central Afyonkarahisar. İkbal Thermal Hotel & Spa, on the Kütahya road, offers indoor and outdoor thermal pools, a Turkish bath and mud baths in its section called MineraSpa; its listed services also include sports massage, skin and body care, and Pilates. Alusso Thermal Hotel SPA & Convention Center is a five-star thermal complex that offers its thermal pools together with a Turkish bath, sauna and steam room; its description also mentions Balinese massage and VIP suite services. Başaranlar Termal Otel, in Gazlıgöl in the İhsaniye district, is an apart-hotel: every apartment has a thermal pool, and the shared areas offer a hammam, sauna, steam room, kese (exfoliating scrub) and foam massage. Sandıklı Hüdai Kaplıcaları, near the centre of the Sandıklı district, is less a single hotel than a municipally run hot-spring resort town that combines thermal and mud baths with apartment, villa and hotel accommodation.
Arrangements for women and men differ between the facilities in Afyonkarahisar. At Başaranlar Termal Otel the shared pools, hammam and sauna are open to women and men at separate times; İkbal Thermal Hotel & Spa has a women-only pool. Alusso's listing states mixed use, while no arrangement is recorded for Hüdai Kaplıcaları. Whether there is day-use entry to the thermal pool, whether pool use is included in the stay and whether mud baths are charged separately vary by facility; asking about these when booking makes comparison easier. In a thermal pool, a common recommendation is to keep your time in the hot water short and to cool off and drink water in between. If you have heart or circulatory disease, blood pressure problems, are pregnant or have recently had surgery, consult your doctor before using the thermal pool or a mud bath.
