Turkish bath in Çankaya

Seven venues offering a Turkish bath in Çankaya are listed, and none of them is a historic hammam: six are hotel spas and one is a city spa that operates as a day spa. Most of the hammams are in hotels around Kavaklıdere, Çukurambar and Kızılay; five of the seven venues also have a sauna.

Kese and foam wash are not on every menu

Because most of Çankaya's hammams are hotel hammams, kese (exfoliating scrub) and foam wash are not standard: on the list, both appear only at Dayinn Spa and Sakura Touch Luxury Spa. At Dayinn Spa in Çukurambar, the hammam comes with an indoor pool and a sauna; there are also private rooms for couples, themed Day Spa packages and a bridal package. Sakura Touch offers hammam rituals together with massages by Asian therapists and packages that include the sauna. At Newlife Spa Center inside the NewPark Hotel, the hammam is on the same menu as shiatsu and the four-hand Sultan therapy; Elemor Spa in the Ahmet Taner Kışlalı neighbourhood offers hammam rituals together with medical massage, sauna and Pilates, by appointment.

Choosing and booking

Newlife, Dayinn and Elemor are listed as mixed; for the others, the arrangements for women and men are not stated, so ask whether the hammam is a shared area or a room reserved for one person or a couple. Newlife, Dayinn, Elemor and Sakura, which are also listed as day spas, may be an easier option for outside guests; at hotel hammams such as Seven Deep, New Park and Latanya, admission for people not staying at the hotel varies by venue. When booking, find out whether kese and foam wash are included in the hammam price, whether the pool and sauna can be used, and how long the visit lasts in total.

The steps of the ritual are on the Turkish bath page, and the district's other spas and massage centres on the Çankaya page.
