Sauna in Antalya

There are 3 venues in Antalya offering a sauna: a hotel spa in Tekirova (Kemer), a luxury hotel spa in Muratpaşa and a hammam-spa in Side that is independent of any hotel. At all three the sauna is on the same premises as the Turkish bath, so you can combine the sauna with a hammam visit.

What there is for a hot-and-cold cycle: Side Demirhan Hamam & Spa in Manavgat has the widest choice of heat facilities: alongside the sauna there are also a steam room, a Russian bath and a salt room. Optimum Luxury Hotel & Spa in Muratpaşa offers the sauna in its Arora Spa & Beauty section together with a steam room and outdoor and indoor pool areas. At Phaselispa Wellness & SPA in Tekirova, the sauna is in the same area as the hammam and the kese (exfoliating scrub) and foam wash rituals; the record does not list a steam room.

Sauna in the hot season: summer in Antalya is long and hot; going into the sauna after a day on the beach or in the sun adds to the heat load on your body. On such days drink water before and after the sauna, keep sessions short and come out straight away if you feel dizzy. If you have blood pressure problems or a heart or circulatory condition, consult your doctor.

What to ask: whether the sauna is included in the hammam or massage package, whether hotel spas can be used without staying, whether use is mixed or at separate hours (none of the three venues' records include this) and whether a towel and slippers are provided.
