About

Süleymaniye Hamamı was built between 1550 and 1557 as part of the Süleymaniye Complex, which Mimar Sinan created for Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent. It stands on Mimar Sinan Caddesi, right next to the Süleymaniye Mosque.

The hammam experience lasts about 105 minutes: a welcome, warming up and resting on the navel stone (the heated marble platform), kese (exfoliating scrub), a foam wash and soap massage, followed by refreshments in the cooling room. A private lockable changing room, peshtemal, towel, slippers and drinks are included in the price; the hammam states that there are no extra or hidden charges and that tipping is optional. It is a mixed hammam, admitting women and men together, and is known as a favourite with couples and families.
