About Thai Massage in Istanbul

Thai massage — the Thai technique done without oil, fully clothed and with an emphasis on stretching — is offered at fewer venues in Istanbul than other types of massage. The venues listed in this guide are in Zeytinburnu, Başakşehir and Küçükçekmece.

Why it is less common: Thai massage requires separate training and usually a different room set-up (a floor mat instead of a table). For this reason, not every venue with Thai massage on its menu necessarily offers the traditional treatment — some places offer an oil-based, "Thai-inspired" session on a table.

Ask before booking: Whether the session is done on a mat or a table, whether oil is used and whether the therapist has been trained in Thai massage. If you are looking for the traditional experience, these three questions make the difference clear.

What to bring: Comfortable, stretchy clothing. Most venues provide their own clothing. As no oil is used, you do not need a shower after the session.
