About Steam Room in Istanbul
Of the ten venues in Istanbul with a steam room, nine are hotel spas and four are in Beşiktaş; the rest are spread across Şişli, Kağıthane, Başakşehir, Üsküdar and Ataşehir. At almost all of them the steam room sits next to the sauna and the Turkish bath; it is part of the wet area rather than a treatment you book separately.
Spas with a steam room, from Beşiktaş to Bahçeşehir
All four venues with a steam room in Beşiktaş are listed as mixed; with this arrangement the steam room may be an area that women and men use together. Raffles İstanbul Spa at Zorlu Center has a traditional Turkish bath, couples' suites and signature massages in its 3,000 square metres. Health Club & Spa Soul, on the lobby floor of Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus, offers Balinese massage and special hammam rituals together with its pool and sauna areas. AS Spa Merkezi in Bahçeşehir 2. Kısım is the only non-hotel venue on the list; it offers a hammam, sauna, steam room and pool, with Thai, medical and hot stone massage options, every day of the week. Zen Spa in Kağıthane, inside Four Points by Sheraton, also has its steam room on the same premises as aromatherapy massage and kese (exfoliating scrub) and foam wash.
Before you go: ask how long the steam room can be used during a session, how many people the shared area is open to at once, and whether essences or aromatic oils are added to the steam. The last question matters if you have asthma or are sensitive to scents; if you have high blood pressure, a heart or circulatory condition, or are pregnant, consult your doctor before spending time in moist heat.
